Also, sorry for the dearth of DS recommendations, but I traded in my DS Lite a long time ago, and now that I’ve got an iPhone, I have no real reason to replace it. If I were to get another DS, the first game I’d get for it is Dragon Quest IX, and I don’t think you’d be into that.
I never picked up a DS, although I have looked enviously over the shoulders of some ten year-olds on subways/planes.
Played some CD2 last night…
Gah, there’s some charge-forward move that I activate without quite knowing how and I managed to hurl myself off a cliff while trying to clear and activate one of the blue uplinky things. Now I have to make my way back up to the mill and into the mountains again.
Fun game, it’ll be a lot less frustrating once I get to level 4 agility.
I’ll admit I rented the game so I didn’t RTFM. What’s up with the ‘aural areas’ in the game? There’s music playing in random spots.. I assumed it was a hint that there was an object nearby but I haven’t seen anything yet.
It’s got a dark and gritty feel, which isn’t nearly as much fun as the bright and clean original.
That can considered subjective…
Also there’s at least one annoying animation glitch: when jumping up to grab a window sill or ledge you think ‘damn I didn’t make it’ when suddenly the hands snap up a few pixels to grab the ledge. I also don’t find the ‘grip-finding’ routines to be as friendly as the original. It took me about 5 minutes once to jump on to some head-level horizontal pipes, because my hands only sometimes found a grip.
I’m mostly finished one island and already I’m strong enough that the freaks are mostly one-punch pests. It’ll be interesting to see if they become more of a challenge as I move to more difficult areas or if they’ll just be nuisances on a checklist I have to complete for completion sake.

So is a Crackdown 2 focus test in the works?

I think the iPad aquisition means DS stands for Dead System.
Maybe Scribblenaughts if it’s cheap enough
Put it this way, Dan. Even if we don’t FT CD2, we will be Fting CD2.

I have made a decision to play through SMG2 first before I touch CD2. It’s tough.

I sort of understand some of the bad reviews now…
