Seems that the iPad is far better suited to point-and-”click” games than it would be to games with onscreen D-pads or tilt controls.
Onscreen D-pads work well for some iPhone games, like Giana Sisters or Sonic 2, because they don’t require much thumb movement to function, but I really don’t like onscreen “analog controls.” They’re painfully imprecise. I can’t imagine how rough it would be to play a game like Geometry Wars or Doom Classic on an iPad.
Tilting that big thing to play games like Zenbound or Tilt to Live can’t be much fun, either. I picture the iPad as a device to be held in one hand and activated with the other. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that tower defense games and other RTS offshoots are so popular with it.
Also, I hate Angry Birds too. It’s freakin’ Boom Blox!

Yay I got a mention in the Podcats!
Interesting that the George thinks the big deal about iPad, aside from the gaming interface, is that it’s useful for getting tasks done quickly. Personally I leave my laptop on all the time, so that’s not an issue for me… but how long does it take a solid-state netbook to boot I wonder?
Did you guys see Balmer’s response to the iPad?

Just a tad feeble, I’d say. But I’m sure HP’s M$-flavoured iPad clone is around the corner and I’ll be interested to see what it looks like.

Win Mo 7 OS has potential, though I’ll stick with the Apple stuff.
