Oh god you missed Commodores other aborted attempt to get into console gaming the Amiga CD32. I believe that the idea was that they were going to bring out an attatchment that allowed the use of a standard keyboard, hard drive and floppy so in effect you would have an Amiga with a built in CD drive, but the company went tits up not long after release. It only sold around 100,000 and yes I was one of the poor bastards that bought one, it sat in my back room for years as a decent-ish CD player till I finally managed to sell it to a collector.
It had without a doubt the worst game I have ever played in over thirty years of gaming on it, not just released but as a pack in game and not just a pack in game but the one that gave the bundle its name. "Dangerous Streets".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH0gnPQndEI
Thinking back tha Amiga/ST time was my favourite era so far, games were easier to get and we had big publishers but there was people doing demo's and making little indy games that tried new things. I think that the game you were talking about wasn't Star glider 2,(although every st/amiga owner seemed to play that,) but Carrier Command one of my all time favourite games. There was also Hunter a weird little 3d game that could be considered one of the first sandbox games.

I really really wanted a Turbographix 16. Also a Dreamcast.

I think one of the things I miss from those days is *wanting* stuff. I remember poring over magazines drooling over game and system reviews of systems I didn't own and games I'd never play.

Now I pretty much don't care. As Dr. Who said, "We live too long".

On the other hand, I didn't think I'd be into Bayonetta and it's actually a very entertaining game. Seriously.

Once the price drops $20 bucks I'll probably pick it up. I only rented it over the weekend.

Hmm. Thanks for the warning. In return, I should say that Snatcher, written by Hideo Kojima, has a really stupid and really long ending. Surprise!

Seaman is not worth seeking out IMHO. From memory, It doesn't work all that well.

Geez, I remember importing a Japanese Dreamcast just so I could play Marvel vs. Capcom at home. I wish I'd waited, because there were some great games out on the system that I would have preferred to play in English.

It seems like every failed console has at least one completely unique gem. I never got to play Seaman on the Dreamcast, Tempest 2000 on the Jaguar, Burn:Cycle on the 3DO, or Sonic CD on the Sega CD. I don't regret that I didn't buy the consoles, but I do wish I could try those games at least once.

I did get to play and finish Snatcher, though, and it was excellent.
